Baguio City

Baguio, Philippines

Baguio, on the Philippines’ Luzon island, is a mountain town of universities and resorts. Called the “City of Pines,” it’s particularly popular in summer due to unusually cooler weather. At its center is Burnham Park, with gardens and a lake. Nearby, Baguio Cathedral, completed in 1936, has a rose-hued exterior. The main thoroughfare is Session Road, lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment options.

Burnham Park truly is the very heart of Baguio City. With an area of 32.84 hectares its central location makes it the most valuable piece of Baguio real estate.

Few people know that the Baguio Cathedral is actually named the Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral.
The majestic church located on top of a hill in the heart of the city, it is one of the more familiar icons and most visited landmarks of the city. Its beautiful rose-colored structure is distinguished from other churches in the Philippines by its twin spires.

Camp John Hay (CJH) is Baguio City's most popular visitor attraction.
A beautiful resort in the mountains it features a world class competition Jack Niclaus-designed golf course (said to be the only course in the Philippines to have bentgrass greens) as well as hotels, a shopping center & a convention center, among other attractions.

Mines View Park A ridge located at the extreme northeast side of the city, past The Mansion and Wright Park, Mines View Park boasts of a spectacular view of Benguet's gold and copper mines and the Cordillera mountains.
The main attractions in Mines View Park nowadays would be the commercial activities such as the souvenir and silverworks stores by the park. The one especially worth visiting is Rimando's, that offers the best carved artifacts, on the Gibraltar side.

Philippine Military Academy
For the past 100 years, the officers training  school of the Armed Forces in the Philippines has made Baguio City its home. The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) boasts of a long and illustrious history of preparing only the best Filipino men -- and in recent times, women--  for military service.

The Baguio Botanical Garden is one of the green parks of the City of Pines "where nothing much happens" - and this is precisely what is so great about it!
A huge piece of land that is owned by the Philippine government, Botanical Garden, like Burnham Park is one of those prime pieces of real estate that provides priceless peace and tranquility to a city that is in danger of becoming an urban jungle.

One activity that is highly recommended  is strawberry picking at the Strawberry Farm in the nearby La Trinidad, Benguet. A unique experience for the whole family, you get to pick fresh strawberries -- right alongside the Ibaloi farmers -- to bring home or consume while on vacation in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
