Mararison Island

Mararison is a 55-hectare hook-shaped island where you can enjoy great heights and depths—Trek up the charming mountain ridges, which some people already claim as the little Batanes of Panay. When you reach the peak, you get a 360-degree view of this beautiful island and the waters that surround it.

Local folklore tells that Mararison and its sister islands were separated from their parents, Mount Madjaas and Mount Kanlaon, adding a mythic charm to every visit. After Typhoon Haiyan, the community rebuilt with solar power, homestays, and guided tours, turning the island into a model of sustainable tourism

A 15‑minute banca ride from the mainland brings you to its turquoise waters and soft white‑sand beaches, perfect for swimming and snorkeling over vibrant coral reefs. The island’s rolling hills rise gently, offering a 30‑minute trek to the highest point, where you can watch sunrise over Mount Madjaas or sunset behind Nablag Islet.

Mararison’s blend of natural beauty, community‑driven hospitality, and resilient spirit makes it a must‑visit “little Batanes” in the Visayas. With minimal environmental impact, you can enjoy pristine beaches, sunrise hikes, and warm local hospitality, all within a short boat ride from Culasi.

Activities range from snorkeling in the protected reef to hiking the grassy hills dotted with pitcher plants, and even enjoying the sandbar that appears at low tide. The island’s children’s choir serenades visitors, adding a heartfelt cultural touch.

Stroll around the island's white sand beaches and swim into the clear blue waters rich with marine flora and fauna.

After all your activities, you will be served with a hearty lunch while being serenaded by the island's children's choir. You will go home with wonderful memories to remember and share.
